3D Printed Visor

Michael Garron Hospital has met it’s goal of 10,000 face shield visor frames! Thank you to the maker community!!

What should I print?

Please see instructions and video on this page (you can download the STL files). Note, the video shows the page protector (PP) version for illustrative purposes but files to download on this page are for the 3 hole punch (3HP) version which is what is requested.

A smaller version of the frame (more curled) is offered as some printers can only fit this design. Others can print a small and large version at the same time to improve efficiency.

What material should I use to print?

The recommended material is PLA. This has been tested through the sanitation process.

Do I need to supply the elastics and visor sheets?

No, you do not need to supply the visor sheets or elastic bands. The hospital has these parts and will assemble in a clean environment. You are requested to only supply the printed frame.

Where do I send or drop off the items and can I request a pick up?

We recommend you consolidate shipments/drop-offs if you plan to produce multiple items.
Please send printed face shield component to:
Michael Garron Hospital - Receiving Department (Knight St entrance)
825 Coxwell Avenue, Toronto, ON M4C 3E7
Tel: (416) 461-8272

Please include your name and contact information on any package as the hospital would like to thank you for your generosity and for answering the call.

If you’re unable to drop off please contact us and we’ll arrange a pick up.

Why this design?

This design is recommended because:

  • It has been tested in the hospital environment for strength and durability

  • It has been tested through the hospital sanitation process (using PLA which is recommended). It can be sanitized upon arrival and the other components added at the hospital in a sanitary environment.

  • It is designed to print efficiently (quickly)

  • It can be disassembled, sanitized and a new (clean) sheet added in the hospital setting

Additional details are available at https://botcamp.org/2020/03/22/3d-printable-healthcare-visors/

Note, this video shows the page protector (PP) version. We are requesting the 3 hole punch (3HP) version but have included this video for illustrative purposes.

The 3D Printed Visor was designed and specs supplied by Shawn Lim, Founder of Bot Camp.
